Getting crafty for Valentines Day.

I recently saw a meme that went something like “You don’t go to Target because you need to get something. You go to Target to let Target tell you what you need.” So true! About a month ago I was perusing the Target ~~Dollar~~ really $3 or $5 for the majority of stuff you are told by Target to take home Spot, and I came across some ready-to-use craft materials for Valentine’s day. It was around this time that I was dreading the thought of taking down Christmas decorations (the fireplace mantel in our den was looking so cozy with pine tree garland). Looking at the colorful felt hearts instantly had me envisioning some heart garland on the mantel – so the decision was basically made for me. 🙂

Not only is this a craft that anyone can do, it can be done while sitting in front of the TV. My kind of craft! Below is the process I used in pictures. It took about an hour?

Materials: 150 hearts (three 40-count felt hearts & one 30-count metallic sticker hearts), a needle, & spool of “monofilament illusion cord” (found at Michael’s in the jewelry section).

Laying out a pattern (coffee, ~~optional~~)…

Make sure you thread each heart in the same direction (I started at the top of each heart).

I also bought the pre-made “LOVE” banner in the Target Dollar Spot. One of my Quality Control Assistants wanted to inspect the final result…

Just making sure the dog also approves…?

Now I don’t want to take our Valentine’s Day decorations down. I guess I need to find some felt clovers for St. Patty’s Day? *sigh* Anyone else out there drawn to the Target Dollar Spot for crafts or seasonal decor? I think it may have Sirens – just saying… 😉
