DIY Valentine Ideas (From Star Wars to Elephants)…

Can you believe Valentines Day is just over a week away?! Me either… ๐Ÿ˜„

Since we’re getting close, I thought it would be a good time to share some easy, cute, DIY valentine ideas!

Star Wars Valentines

This is probably my favorite DIY valentine to-date. They were easy to make, and what kid doesn’t love glow sticks?

Here’s how to make them:

  1. Print off template (mine is below, but I slightly modified this free template from Brassy Apple) & sign;
  2. Punch a hole for the “light saber” slot (a quick snip with scissors would do the trick, too);
  3. Put the glow stick (“light saber”) in the slot;
  4. Secure the glow stick in-place with tape.

I got a pack of glow sticks at the dollar store, so since I already had paper on hand, this only cost me $2! Plus, your kid might like getting to help if they’re old enough. โ˜บ๏ธ

If interested, here is the exact template I used:

Also, how cute is this printable via The Idea Room?!

Seriously, Pinterest does not disappoint… ๐Ÿ˜

Applesauce Valentines

I used this idea for the first few years for each of my kids. I just think applesauce is a snack that all babies and toddlers seem to love, and we ALWAYS have applesauce pouches in the house (but any fruit pouch would work)!

  1. Print template (I’ve used both this free template from TenJune and the one below) & sign;
  2. Tape an applesauce pouch to it.

Super easy & cute, right?!

Elephant Valentines

My oldest loves elephants (and his classmates know it!). So one year I decided it would be fun to send in elephant Valentines, using heart shapes to keep with the Valentine theme. Here’s what I came up with:

I just cut these out free-hand (I folded the paper in half for the heart-shaped head, then free-cut for each trunk). The heart eyes and ears were easy enough to cut out using folded paper, too.

  1. Cut out shapes;
  2. Glue on the heart eyes and ears (my son loved doing this step!) & sign;
  3. Fold in half, then fold trunk up to fit into envelopes (we stuck in some Star Wars stickers for each kid, too – if you can’t tell, we’re a Star Wars family… see above, my son’s bedroom, and our DIY Ewok and Death Star costumes if you still need convincing. ๐Ÿ˜‚).

I also love letting the kids pick out their own Valentines to give away (which I did this year for each boy – the baby girl is giving the out the applesauce ones), but sometimes it’s fun (and easier or cheaper) to make your own. โ˜บ๏ธ

Anyone else like making their own Valentines for their kids – or am I just a weirdo? Errr… Maybe don’t answer that… haha.
